How to lay Paving in Herringbone pattern

1. Prepare the Base
Begin by preparing a sub-base with Type 1 scalpings, ensuring it’s well-compacted using a Wacker Plate. Then, apply a generous layer of cement slurry to form a strong, durable bonding surface.

2. Mark the Centre
Find and mark the center point of your patio area. Using a spirit level, draw a straight guideline, and lay your first row of setts along it to ensure accurate and consistent alignment.

3. Lay the Setts
Continue laying the remaining paving setts in a herringbone pattern, starting from the centre and working outward. Frequently check your alignment to maintain a consistent and balanced zig-zag design.

4. Finish the Edges

Trim any uneven edges with a paving cutter to achieve a clean, professional finish. To complete the installation, use an appropriate jointing solution like EasyJoint Select or a sharp sand and cement mix.
