Crafted for exceptional strength and long-term performance, our porcelain paving tiles are fired at extremely high temperatures, giving them outstanding durability. Each tile is rectified—precision-cut for perfectly straight, smooth edges—delivering a sleek, contemporary look while making installation easier and more accurate. This precision also helps you plan grout and primer use with confidence. Our Patterned Porcelain collection takes inspiration from timeless mosaic artistry, echoing the elegance of Mediterranean villas and the bold geometry of Victorian design. Think striking complimentary pairings like beiges and greys, reimagined for both modern gardens and stylish interiors. For a contemporary touch, Decor Black and White combines the monochromatic shades of black and white, paired with refined detailing—perfect for a sophisticated patio finish. Available in three stunning colours, each with its own unique geometric motif, these tiles are designed to make a statement. Some customers create a full Victorian-style patio, while others use them as feature panels within larger paving layouts to form eye-catching focal points. Step 1: Measure Your Patio Area Measure the full length and width of your space, including any curves, borders, or design features. Multiply the longest length by the longest width to calculate square metre coverage. To avoid running short, order at least 5% extra for cuts, adjustments, and wastage. When choosing tiles, think about size, colour, and technical features. Ordering online is simple—enter your square metres or add tiles directly to your basket. Step 2: Prepare the Ground Mark out the patio area with stakes, string, or spray paint. Excavate to a depth of 150–200mm (6–8 inches) to allow room for the sub-base, bedding mortar, and slabs. Maintain a 1:60 gradient so rainwater drains away from your home. Step 3: Lay the Sub-Base Spread a 100–150mm (4–6 inch) layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone or hardcore. Compact firmly with a wacker plate to create a stable foundation. Step 4: Bedding Layer Mix sharp sand and cement (4:1 ratio) to make mortar. Apply a 30mm (1–1.5 inch) layer on top of the sub-base, keeping the gradient consistent for drainage. Step 5: Prime the Tiles Before laying, coat the underside of each porcelain slab with a slurry primer (e.g., Azpects EASYPrime or Ultrascape Slurry Primer) to ensure maximum adhesion. Step 6: Lay the Paving Start from a straight edge or fixed corner. Press tiles firmly into the mortar, using Azpects spacers to keep 3–5mm joints. Check levels with a spirit level and tap gently with a rubber mallet for accuracy. After 24 hours, fill the joints with a high-quality jointing compound like EASYJoint, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Step 7: Finishing Touches Brush off excess jointing compound and rinse the surface with water. Allow 24–48 hours for curing before using your new patio or adding heavy furniture. Routine Cleaning – Keep your paving looking fresh by sweeping regularly and giving it an occasional rinse with a garden hose or light pressure washer. Choose Gentle Products – Avoid harsh chemicals. Use mild detergents to safely clean your tiles while protecting the grout. With these simple steps, your porcelain paving will stay flawless, professional in appearance, and add lasting beauty and value to your outdoor space.Read More...
