Created with commercial safety in mind, these tiles are ideal for high-traffic areas like gyms and swimming pools. The built-in anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties help prevent the growth of harmful micro-organisms—removing the need for harsh chemical cleaners and offering a more eco-friendly solution. All three colours in the Angers Porcelain range showcase the same elegant pattern, featuring a striking silver veined effect that adds a touch of luxury to any space. This distinctive design enhances the overall aesthetic of both your home and garden. For a truly cohesive look, why not extend the Angers range from your interior floors out into your patio? This seamless transition beautifully connects your indoor and outdoor living areas, creating a stylish and unified space. If you'd like to install a Porcelain Patio yourself, read our guide below created by our Landscaping experts at the Stone Zone: Start by accurately measuring your space, factoring in any patterns, borders, or unique features you'd like to include. Multiply the longest width by the longest length to calculate the total square meterage. For best results, we recommend adding an extra 5% to cover any potential cutting or wastage. Choose your Porcelain Paving based on both style and practical needs—consider size, colour, and technical specs. Ordering is simple on our website: either enter the total square metres you need or add individual tiles directly to your basket. Mark out your patio area using stakes and string or spray paint to define the layout. Then, excavate the area to a depth of 150–200mm (6–8 inches) to allow for the sub-base, bedding mortar, and paving slabs. Don’t forget to include a gentle slope (1:60 gradient) to encourage water drainage away from buildings. Spread a 100–150mm (4–6 inch) layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone or hardcore. Compact it using a wacker plate to form a stable, level foundation that prevents movement and ensures long-term durability. Mix mortar using a 4:1 ratio of sharp sand to cement. Spread it across your compacted sub-base to a depth of around 30mm (1–1.5 inches), following the same gradient for drainage. This creates a strong base to support the porcelain tiles. Before laying, apply a slurry primer to the back of each porcelain tile to ensure proper adhesion to the mortar bed. Products like Azpects EASYPrime or Ultrascape Slurry Primer are ideal for this step. Begin laying your pavers from a fixed point or corner, pressing each one firmly into the mortar bed. Use Azpects spacers to maintain a consistent 3–5mm joint between tiles. Check levels regularly with a spirit level, tapping gently with a rubber mallet to adjust if necessary. After the mortar has set (typically 24 hours), fill the joints with a quality jointing compound like EASYJoint, following the manufacturer’s guidelines. If water activation is required, follow instructions carefully for best results. Clean the surface with a soft brush and water to remove any remaining jointing compound. Allow the area to cure for 24–48 hours before walking on it or placing heavy furniture. Routine Cleaning: Sweep regularly and rinse with a garden hose or light pressure washer as needed. Gentle Products Only: Avoid abrasive chemicals—use mild detergents to keep your paving and grout in top condition. By following this step-by-step method, you’ll achieve a smooth, professional porcelain paving installation that adds lasting beauty and value to your outdoor space.Read More...
