The Paving tiles are then rectified which ensures the edges are completely straight and smooth which will enhance the installation process and make calculating the amount of Primer and Grout needed easier. Angers Porcelain also uses ADVANCE® technology which has been developed in a laboratory for many years. The manufacturer wanted to create a commercially-safe tile that would be ideal for use in gyms and pools; this means the tiles have anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties that prevents the growth of micro-organisms. This also eradicates the need for the use of chemical agents or detergents which can impact the environment. All three colours of Angers Porcelain feature the same, beautful pattern throughout the paving slabs. They have a striking, veined effect throughout which is a silver colour and really enhances the asthetics of your home and garden. Why not install the Angers range throughout your home and then into your garden as a patio? This seamless transition will create a great link between your home and garden. If you'd like to install a Porcelain Patio yourself, read our guide below created by our Landscaping experts at the Stone Zone: Begin by measuring your space, accounting for any patterns or borders you’d like to incorporate. Multiply the longest width by the longest length and you will have the square meterage that you need to place your order. It's worth adding 5% to account for any wastage. Select Porcelain Pavers based on both style and practical considerations, including size, color, and technical specifications. Buy Paving on our website is quick and easy - simply enter the number of square metres you need or add the individual tiles to your basket. Define the area with stakes and string or spray paint to outline the blueprint of your desired patio, ensuring accuracy. Dig down to a depth of 150-200mm (6-8 inches) to accommodate the sub-base, bedding layer, and paving slabs, while also creating a slight slope to enhance drainage away from your property. Spread a 100-150mm (4-6 inches) layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone or hardcore across the area. Use a wacker plate to create a stable, even foundation to prevent shifting over time. Mix and apply the mortar by using a 4:1 ratio of sharp sand to cement. Spread the mortar mix evenly across the compacted sub-base to a depth of 30mm (1-1.5 inches), maintaining the slope for drainage. Before laying each paver, apply slurry primer to the back of the porcelain tiles ensure strong adhesion to the mortar bed. Products like Azpects EASYPrime and Ultrascape Slurry Primer work well for this step. Place down the Porcelain tiles, starting in one corner, pressing each paver into the mortar bed. Maintain a 3-5mm gap for the grout between the paving slabs using Azpects Spacers. Check the patio is level with a spirit level and adjust with a rubber mallet as needed. Once the mortar sets (after about 24 hours), fill the gaps with a jointing compound like EASYJoint, following the manufacturer’s instructions. If needed, activate with water as directed to complete the jointing. Use a soft brush and water to clean any remaining compound from the paver surface. Let the paving cure for 24-48 hours before introducing foot traffic or adding heavy items. Routine Cleaning: Regularly sweep and occasionally rinse with a hose or pressure washer. Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Use mild detergents and avoid abrasive products to maintain the pavers and joints. Following this structured approach will help ensure a professional-grade porcelain paving installation that enhances your outdoor space for years.Read More...
