What is 'Square Edge Paving'?
As we have explained earlier, we bring over all our natural stones from Indian stone quarries. When they are developed, the come as large pieces of rock that are then cut down to required sizes by hand. This particular cutting process is not required when developing Square Edge paving; because for Square Edge, the edges are machine sawn, giving them a smooth and straight finished rather than a more rustic finish when it's hand cut. Machine sawing the paving assures that all the paving slabs are consistent, with no rough edges and no unevenness across the entire batch. If you desire to have a garden that looks organised and symmetrical then Square Edge paving is the one for you.
What is the Difference Between Limestone and Sandstone Paving?
Limestone and Sandstone paving have a few similar attributes, the most notable being that both of them are derived from natural stone quarries in India.
One positive aspect of choosing Limestone Paving rather than Sandstone paving is that Limestone is the more cost-efficient option. But please be aware that maintenance may be required depending on which colour paving you choose to go with.
As Limestone is the slightly cheaper option, it is slightly brittle in textured when compared with Sandstone paving. But, the difference in texture is not a hinderance as they both have the same durability and are both long-lasting when laid down.
As we have noted earlier, discolouration and weathering will occur on your Limestone Paving as time goes by, even when Sealer has been used. To retain the original colour and brightness for as long as possible some elbow grease and upkeeping is necessary. On the other hand Sandstone Paving is a little easier to manage when concerning colour changes.
We, at Stone Zone, do supply Sandstone and Limestone with several options. Sandstone can be bought in a weathered or sawn option. Or if you go with Limestone, we can provide you with Square Edge or Weathered options.
You need to seal your Citron Square Edge paving to preserve its original colour and shine for as long as possible. For Sandstone paving, these extra steps are only optional.
What is the Difference Between Limestone and Porcelain Paving?
There are several variations between Limestone and Porcelain Paving that you need to be aware of. The most well-known difference between the two paving are how Limestone is derived naturally in a stone quarry whereas Porcelain Paving is manufactured. Being manmade does ensure that Porcelain Paving is available in a wide range of colours and finishes.
If you want to go for a more stylish and contemporary look for your garden or patio we would recommend Porcelain paving, however, if you want to go for a more understated and classic look then Limestone is the better choice for you.
You may be already aware, but Limestone does weather gradually over time, with changes and weathering occurring on the surface texture and colour. Contrarily, this weathering is less of an issue with Porcelain Paving as they are able to retain their colour and texture for a longer period of time.
Please keep in mind that Limestone Paving does require maintenance to preserve its colouring and vividness, by jet washing it twice a year, so if you would rather avoid that we'd advise that you chose Porcelain Paving is that only requires a simple hose down every 6 months
