Installation tips for VUBA Surfaces

For all VUBA installations, we strongly recommend you hire a professional who has completed VUBA training which Stone Zone depots run throughout the year. They will receive a certification which then validates the VUBA 25 year guarantee. 

There are a number of ways you can install VUBA Resin Bound Aggregates; you can lay this surfacing directly onto your tarmac or asphalt driveway, however, we would recommend laying your VUBA Paving onto their award-winning VubaMac base.

1. If you don't currently have a tarmac or asphalt driveway or path, we'd advise digging your area to a depth of at least 100mm to allow for a 30mm layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone.

2. Lay your hardcore aggregate straight onto the ground and rake over to ensure it is level. Use a compactor such as a Wacker Plate to compact this base layer down.

3. If you're installing a driveway, you'll need two layers of SRM (Structural Reinforcement Mesh). Add your first layer of SRM which will need cutting down to size. You can buy this in a variety of different sizes to suit your project. 

4. Make up and lay your VubaMac base with a heavy duty Roller which can be found on the VUBA website. Tips on installing your VubaMac base can be found on our article here.

5. Lay your final layer of SRM over the top of your VubaMac base and then wait 1 hour for it to cure. Your SRM will be chemically bonded with your VubaMac base, strengthening it and making it perfect for both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. 

6. Once your VubaMac has cured, you're ready to lay your chosen VUBA resin kit mix! You'll need a heavy duty mixer to mix together the Resin Binder, Aggregates and Binding Quartz. You can then decant this into your lined wheelbarrow ready to pour onto your VubaMac base.

7. Using your Trowel and a huge amount of pressure, flatten down this aggregate mixture in small batches. Repeat these steps until you have a beautiful resin bound surface fit for a modern property!
