VUBA Resin Bound Aggregates can be applied directly over existing tarmac or asphalt surfaces. For the strongest, most durable results and a premium finish, however, we recommend the award-winning VubaMac base system—specially designed to deliver exceptional strength, long-term performance, and a flawless appearance.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

1. Ground Preparation
If no existing tarmac or asphalt is present, excavate the area to a depth of at least 100mm. Lay a 30mm layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone to form a stable, reliable sub-base.

2. Compact the Base
Spread the hardcore evenly, then compact it thoroughly with a Wacker Plate or similar tool until the foundation is firm, level, and ready for the next stage.

3. Install the First Layer of SRM
Position the first sheet of Structural Reinforcement Mesh (SRM) for driveways, trimming as required. SRM is available in a range of sizes to suit different project specifications.

4. Lay the VubaMac Base
Mix and apply the VubaMac base using a heavy-duty roller (available via the VUBA website). For best results, follow the full VubaMac installation guide closely.

5. Add the Second Layer of SRM
Place a second SRM sheet directly onto the freshly laid VubaMac base. Allow roughly one hour for curing—this bonding stage ensures outstanding strength and durability for both foot and vehicle traffic.

6. Mix the Resin Kit
Once the base has cured, prepare your chosen VUBA Resin Kit. In a heavy-duty mixer, combine the Resin Binder, Aggregates, and Binding Quartz, then transfer the blend into a lined wheelbarrow for easy handling.

7. Lay the Resin Bound Surface
Apply the resin mixture in manageable sections, smoothing and levelling with a trowel under firm, even pressure. Work systematically until the surface is complete, leaving a seamless, long-lasting, and visually impressive resin bound finish.
