How to lay Paving in Herringbone pattern

1. Prepare the Base
Start by laying a sub-base using Type 1 scalpings, and compact it thoroughly with a Wacker Plate. Next, apply a generous layer of cement slurry to create a strong, long-lasting bond for the paving.

2. Mark the Centre
Identify and clearly mark the central point of your patio area. Using a spirit level, draw a straight guideline and lay your first row of setts along it to ensure accurate alignment from the outset.

3. Lay the Setts
Continue placing the setts in a herringbone pattern, starting from the centre and working outward. Regularly check alignment to ensure a consistent and precise zig-zag layout throughout.

4. Tidy the Edges
Trim any uneven edges with a paving cutter to create a clean, professional-looking border. Complete the installation by applying a suitable jointing material, such as EasyJoint Select or a sharp sand and cement mix, to ensure a neat and secure finish.
