What is 'Square Edge Paving'?
As we have explained earlier all the natural stones that we supply are brought over from stone quarries in India. When these paving slabs are produced they come in large pieces of rock, which are then required to be cut down to size by hand. The case is a little different when considering Square Edge paving; rather than being cut by hand with a rougher edge, the edges for these paving slabs are machine sawn. What this process ensures is that edges are sleek, smooth and consistent across all the paving stones. Because of the clean look created by this method you can achieve a much more uniform and sophisticated look for your patio.
What is the Difference Between Limestone and Sandstone Paving?
Limestone and Sandstone Paving do share some similar aspects as they are both derived naturally in Indian quarries.
A major pro of choosing Limestone Paving is the fact that they are the more cost-efficient option. But do take note of the fact that depending on what colour you choose for your paving, there may be some maintenance required.
As the more economical choice, Limestone is a touch more brittle in comparison to Sandstone. However, it is important to know that one laid both Lime and Sandstone possess the same durability.
As we have stated before, Limestone will start to weather gradually, irrespective of whether or not a Sealer has been used. And because of such occurrences, some maintenance is required to ensure that the original colour of the paving is fresh and bright for as long as possible. On the other hand, maintaining Sandstone Paving and its colour is easier.
Sandstone and Limestone Paving slabs are available in a range of options. You can choose to have Sandstone in a weathered or sawn option; or if you'd rather fo go with Limestone, along with Square Edge, you can also choose the weathered variety.
To make sure that your Carbon Paving retains its colour and maintains brightness for as long as possible they need to be sealed. Such steps are not required for sandstone, it is only optional.
What is the Difference Between Limestone and Porcelain Paving?
There are some differences of note between Limestone and Porcelain Paving. The significant one is how they are created. As we have mentioned above, Limestone paving is derived naturally in quarries whereas Porcelain Paving is manufactured; and because of that Porcelain Paving is available in a wide range of colours and finishes.
If you want to give off a more understated and characteristic look we would recommend the Limestone option, but if something a bit more vibrant and sleek is more to your style then Porcelain Paving is the one you should go for.
As you may be aware, Limestone will gradually weather over time, with the colour and surface texture fading slightly. On the opposite side, Porcelain paving slabs are much better at retaining their colours and textures due to them being manmade.
Finally, do remember that Limestone Paving requires some upkeeping; you will need to jet wash it every 6 months to keep it in top shape. Whereas maintaining Porcelain Paving is a breeze because you only need to hose it down twice a year.
