Resin bound aggregates are a high-quality, low-maintenance paving solution created by combining natural decorative stones—such as gravel, quartz, or marble—with a clear, UV-stable polyurethane resin. The mixture is force-blended and expertly hand-trowelled, producing a smooth, seamless surface that is fully permeable, allowing rainwater to drain naturally. Perfect for driveways, patios, and garden pathways, resin bound paving offers a modern aesthetic with the added benefit of sustainable drainage. The result is a hard-wearing, stylish surface that stays looking great for years. We supply two specialist resin binders designed to suit different installation environments: UV-Stable Resin Binder – Our most popular choice, offering outstanding colour retention and long-term durability. Backed by a manufacturer’s guarantee of up to 25 years when installed by a VUBA-approved professional. Moisture-Resistant Binder – Specially developed for areas prone to high humidity or damp conditions. For the majority of UK projects, we recommend the UV-stable resin as the ideal option for strength, appearance, and longevity. Binding Quartz is a key additive for achieving a premium resin bound finish. This translucent quartz integrates effortlessly into the mix, improving surface smoothness and adding a subtle sheen. It also prevents the grainy, sandy texture that can occur—helping installers create a consistently polished, professional surface every time. Long-Lasting Guarantee – Installed by VUBA-approved professionals, resin bound driveways come with up to a 20-year manufacturer’s guarantee for total peace of mind. Exceptional Strength & Durability – Built to withstand cracking, frost damage, and the weight of regular vehicle use, ensuring a surface that performs year after year. Low-Maintenance Finish – Naturally inhibits weed growth and requires only the occasional sweep or jet wash to stay clean and looking like new. Slip-Resistant Safety – The textured surface provides excellent grip, reducing the risk of slips in wet or icy conditions. Extensive Colour Range – With over 150 natural stone blends available, it’s easy to find the perfect match to complement your property’s style. UV-Stable & Fade-Resistant – Designed to retain its vibrant colour, the UV-stable resin protects against sun damage and fading. For a flawless finish and long-lasting performance, we always recommend using a VUBA-trained installer. Stone Zone depots host regular training sessions for contractors, ensuring they are fully certified to carry out installations. Choosing a certified professional also means your project will qualify for the official VUBA 25-Year Guarantee, giving you complete peace of mind. While VUBA Resin Bound Aggregates can be applied directly over existing tarmac or asphalt surfaces, for maximum strength and durability we recommend using the award-winning VubaMac base system. This purpose-designed base creates a stronger foundation, making it the best choice for resin bound driveways, patios, and pathways. If your area doesn’t already have a tarmac or asphalt base, excavate the ground to a depth of at least 100mm. Add a 30mm layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone to create a strong and stable foundation. Spread the hardcore evenly across the area and level it off. Compact the base using a plate compactor (Wacker Plate) to ensure a solid sub-base. For driveways, lay the first sheet of SRM to reinforce the surface. Cut to fit as needed—SRM is available in a variety of sizes to match different project requirements. Mix and roll out the VubaMac base layer using a heavy-duty roller (available directly from the VUBA website). For more in-depth application tips, follow the official VubaMac installation guides. Once the base is in place, lay the final layer of SRM over the VubaMac. Allow at least 1 hour to cure, creating a tough, chemically bonded structure designed to handle both vehicles and heavy footfall. Using a heavy-duty mixer, thoroughly combine the Resin Binder, Decorative Aggregates, and Binding Quartz. Transfer the mix into a lined wheelbarrow and pour it onto the cured base. With a strong, steady pressure, trowel the mixture in small batches, spreading it evenly across the surface. Continue until the area is fully covered, leaving behind a smooth, seamless, and SuDS-compliant resin bound finish that is both durable and stylish.Read More...
