Polar White Chippings 20mm
Our 20mm Polar White Chippings have long been one of our best-selling products, and for good reason! These shining alabaster chippings boast a luminous, naturally occurring sparkle when reflecting the sun, to create a unique garden feature. While the porcelain slabs are majority white, you will notice dottings of grey and cream spread through the slabs.
Both the 10mm and 20mm Polar White Chippings are regarded as 'premium' and 'high-quality' stones as they have been derived from Dolomitic Marble. These stones in particular are measures, roughly, 20mm, which paired with their angular shape of the garden stones makes for a wonderful garden feature or path. A further use for these stones would be to use them to create an attractive driveway. Due to their shapes and the fact that they are larger, they will lock together to create a durable and stable base to be driven and walked on.
Please note that these garden stones are not fish friendly and therefore would not recommend these stones if you want to use them for your fish pond. Garden Stones such as the Staffordshire or Pea Gravel both in 20mm are fish friendly and will work great in a fish pond.

How to Lay Polar White Chippings
If you are thinking of laying the 20mm Polar White Chippings in your garden by yourself, then this can be an easy DIY project to do, as the process is fairly quick and simple. You just need to make sure that you have the correct equipment at hand and have some prior DIY experience and you're good to go. Completing this project by yourself will make the entire process more affordable and you will get the satisfaction of a job well done. To give you some ideas on how to start, we have created a handy guide to make your life a little easier.
Start by analysing your garden to determine the best spot for your chippings, and measure it out. Once you've got all the numbers, you can visit our website and use the quantity calculator that will work out how much of the stones you will need and how much of the base material you will need to complete your project.
We strongly recommend putting a base layer beneath your decorative chippings for added protection and stability. This is especially important if you are creating a pathway using the Polar White Chippings. The most common practice uses enough stones to fill up 50mm in depth. Landscapers and DIY-ers will tell you that the most common materials to use to create a durable based layer are Scalpings or Type 1 Limestone. These grind down to create a strong yet yielding base to lay your decorative stones on.
Once you have your base material and your Polar White Chippings, you can start digging your chosen area. Please make sure to dig deep enough to have space for 50mm depth of base material and then a further 50mm depth's worth of chippings. Keep in mind that you may need to hire a wacker plate to properly crush down the base layer, so it is more effective. You can also take it a step further and use a spirit level to check that you have created a level area.
Although optional, we strongly suggest you also purchase some weed membrane below your chippings. This is to make sure that you won't have any unwanted weeds popping out through your brand new stones and ruining the overall look.
Finally, you are now ready to add your base layer, and then your stones right at the top, by following our steps you have ensures that your garden gets the drainage it requires and that the walk or driveway is stable and can withstand vehicular and foot traffic.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
