4-20mm Aquaflow Aggregates
With the Stone Zone being one of the UK's largest Builders Merchants, we're proud to now offer our 'Trade Range;' a range that is great value and high quality, designed purposely for Landscapers and Builders that require consistency in essential materials.
4-20mm Aquaflow Aggregates are chippings that mainly consist of clean Limestone that has been graded to a suitable size for a multitude of uses. To ensure there are no pieces of debris or contamination, our Aquaflow Limestone goes through a screening process, where it is then certified as commercially safe to use.
Aquaflow Aggregates for Landscapers
As aforementioned, our Aquaflow Aggregates are the ideal material to use underneath hard landscaping areas that need that extra bit of drainage, to avoid standing water of flash flooding during rainy seasons. For this reason, it makes these Limestone Chippings a popular material to add underneath Artificial Grass, so that the rain particles can easily go through the pre-drilled drainage holes in the turf, and then filter through these permeable aggregates.
Likewise, it also makes it a good material to use as a sub-base for Block Paving. Block Paving is usually semi-permeable, but Porcelain Block Paving isn't, so many Landscapers will use a permeable jointing compound, like EasyJoint, to allow water to penetrate through the joints. Using Aquaflow as part of the sub-base will again, allow the water to filter through the joints and then through the Limestone Aggregates, helping to prevent the risk of flooding.
Limestone Aggregates for Builders
When it comes to large-scale building projects that involve laying a whole new piping system for water works, Aquaflow Aggregates will come in handy due to their permeable properties, and durable nature. Along with sharp sand, Builders tend to use graded Limestone Aggregates to help bed the pipe bedding; allowing it to be installed in a sturdy way, as well as allowing rainfall to filter through slowly.
In many new developments, a Sustainable Urban Drainage System is a requirement from the Government to try and tackle flash flooding. For that reason, these Aquaflow Aggregates can be installed in many ways around homes; they might be used around the edge of houses, to try and 'catch' excess rainfall. It also might be created on a larger scale around the edge of a building development itself, at the bottom of a slope in more flood-prone areas.
SUDS Compliant Aggregates
SUDS stands for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems; as the name suggests, many new developments add these to their building proposals in urban areas that lack the green areas for good drainage. Our Aquaflow Aggregates are certified as being SUDS compliant, due to the natural material makeup of this material.
These systems replicate natural processes to aid drainage in and around properties and site developments. It works by slowing down and holding back excess water, allowing pollutants to be broken down naturally and then filtered back into the ground. The different types of SUDS include source control, site control and regional control.
The benefits of SUDS is they prevent water pollution, reduce the risk of flooding and help prevent drought by ‘recharging’ the ground water. This solution will soon be mandatory on all new major developments.
