Bespoke Garden Play Area
Little feet often want big adventures, so why not dedicate a large area of your garden to be their very own in-house play park?
A popular material for creating a safer play area in gardens and play parks is our Certified Play Chips. Certified to British Standard EN 1177, these are commercial-grade and a perfect shock-absorbing wood chipping for a play area.
How to lay Play Chips in a play area
- Start by digging your designated area to a depth of 10mm, clearing away any debris
- Optional: lay permeable Weed Membrane to prevent regrowth of pesky weeds
- Add 50mm of 40mm Scalpings as your sub-base which will allow good drainage and further padding
- You can now add a 50mm layer of your Play Chips, ensuring they are level
You can now add play features of your children’s choice! Swings, Slides and Seesaws are popular, and with the Play Chip underfoot, you can be reassured they will have a cushioned landing.
Bespoke Garden Sand Pit
Bring the beach to your doorstop with your very own sand pit to build sand castles in!
Use our versatile Silver Play Sand, also certified to British Standard EN 1177 for commercial safety! This washed, non-toxic sand is soft and finely-graded which makes it perfect for building the biggest and best sand castles!
How to create a Sand Pit in your garden
- Decide where you want your sand pit and the size you’d like it to be, rectangular size is easiest
- Dig 40mm within this area, removing any stones or debris
- We recommend using 2.4m Oak Sleepers for a long-lasting frame. Cut these down to size.
- Optional: install permeable Weed Fabric to prevent weeds coming through
- Lay your Sleepers at the edges and ensure they are level and well-sanded down; secure together with timber screws
- Fill your Sand Pit with 40mm of Play Sand and enjoy!
Some people will buy some tarpaulin to cover their sand pit overnight or when it’s raining, and weight them down with spare stones or bricks. Click here to read our in-depth article on creating a Sand Pit.
Give the kids some buckets, spades and even some toys to bury in the sand and they will be entertained for hours!
Year-round green spaces
If your little ones enjoy using the garden all year round, come rain or shine, consider Artificial Grass for their playing space.
