VUBA Resin Bound Aggregates can be applied directly over existing tarmac or asphalt. For the ultimate in strength and finish, however, we recommend the award-winning VubaMac base system—specially designed to deliver exceptional durability, long-lasting performance, and a flawless, high-quality surface.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

1. Ground Preparation
If no tarmac or asphalt is present, excavate the area to a depth of at least 100mm. Add a 30mm layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone to create a strong, stable sub-base.

2. Compact the Base
Spread the hardcore evenly, then compact thoroughly using a Wacker Plate or similar equipment until the foundation is firm and level.

3. Install the First Layer of SRM
Lay the first sheet of Structural Reinforcement Mesh (SRM), trimming to fit as required. SRM is available in a range of sizes to suit different project needs.

4. Apply the VubaMac Base
Mix and spread the VubaMac base using a heavy-duty roller (available from the VUBA website). For best results, follow the complete VubaMac installation guide.

5. Add the Second Layer of SRM
Place a second SRM sheet directly on top of the freshly applied VubaMac base. Allow around one hour for curing—this step ensures maximum strength for both pedestrian and vehicle use.

6. Mix the Resin Kit
Once the base has cured, prepare your chosen VUBA Resin Kit. In a heavy-duty mixer, combine the Resin Binder, Aggregates, and Binding Quartz. Transfer the mixture to a lined wheelbarrow for easier handling.

7. Lay the Resin Bound Surface
Apply the resin mixture in small, controlled sections. Use a trowel with firm, even pressure to smooth and level the surface. Continue until the entire area is covered, achieving a seamless, durable, and visually impressive finish.
