Installation Options

VUBA Resin Bound Aggregates can be installed directly over existing tarmac or asphalt driveways. However, for maximum durability and a premium finish, we recommend laying them on the award-winning VubaMac base system—engineered for strength, longevity, and performance.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

1. Ground Preparation
If no tarmac or asphalt exists, excavate the area to a minimum depth of 100mm. Spread a 30mm layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone to create a stable, reliable sub-base.

2. Compact the Base
Evenly distribute the hardcore and compact thoroughly with a Wacker Plate or similar compactor until the foundation is firm, level, and ready for the next stage.

3. Install the First Layer of SRM
For driveways, lay the first sheet of Structural Reinforcement Mesh (SRM), trimming to fit as needed. SRM comes in various sizes to suit your project requirements.

4. Lay the VubaMac Base
Mix and apply the VubaMac base using a heavy-duty roller (available from the VUBA website). Follow the full VubaMac installation guide for best results.

5. Add the Second Layer of SRM
Place a second sheet of SRM over the freshly laid VubaMac base. Allow around 1 hour for curing, during which the SRM chemically bonds with the base, providing exceptional strength for pedestrian and vehicle use.

6. Mix Your Resin Kit
Once the base has cured, prepare your chosen VUBA Resin Kit. Blend the Resin Binder, Aggregates, and Binding Quartz in a heavy-duty mixer, then transfer the mix into a lined wheelbarrow for easy application.

7. Lay the Resin Bound Surface
Apply the resin mix in small sections, using a trowel with firm, even pressure to smooth and level the surface. Continue until the entire area is covered, resulting in a seamless, durable, and visually striking resin bound finish.
