Installation Options

VUBA Resin Bound Aggregates can be laid straight over existing tarmac or asphalt driveways. For maximum strength, durability, and long-lasting performance, we recommend using the award-winning VubaMac base system.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

1. Ground Preparation
If no tarmac or asphalt exists, excavate the area to a minimum depth of 100mm.
Add a 30mm layer of MOT Type 1 Limestone to create a stable, reliable sub-base.

2. Compacting the Base
Spread the hardcore aggregate evenly across the excavated area.
Compact thoroughly using a Wacker Plate or similar compactor until the base is firm and level.

3. First Layer of SRM
For driveways, place the first sheet of Structural Reinforcement Mesh (SRM), trimming to fit as needed.
SRM comes in a variety of sizes to suit different projects.

4. Installing the VubaMac Base
Mix and lay the VubaMac base using a heavy-duty roller (available via the VUBA website).

5. Second Layer of SRM
Place a second sheet of SRM on top of the fresh VubaMac base.
Allow approximately 1 hour for the base to cure, during which the SRM chemically bonds to the base, providing exceptional strength for pedestrian and vehicle use.

6. Mixing Your Resin Kit
Once the base has cured, prepare your chosen VUBA Resin Kit.
Use a heavy-duty mixer to combine the Resin Binder, Aggregates, and Binding Quartz.
Transfer the mixture into a lined wheelbarrow, ready for application.

7. Laying the Resin Bound Surface
Spread the resin mix in small, manageable sections using a trowel and firm, even pressure.
Continue smoothing until the entire area is covered, creating a seamless, durable, and visually striking resin bound surface.
