Quantock Grey Chippings 20mm
20mm Quantock is one of our best-selling decorative stones and for good reason. These understated, economical stones are adaptable and versatile as they can be used in driveways, back gardens and to create colourful borders around your garden.
The Quantock Grey Chippings are made up of subtle shades of grey that will add depth and soft shading throughout your garden. This particular shade will look great irrespective of whether your home is modern or more traditional.
As the name suggests, these chippings were quarried in the Quantock Hills in Somerset so you know that they are the best quality chippings that you can find that have not been imported in.
Quantock Grey Chippings 20mm for Pathways
The 20mm Quantock Grey Chippings is a popular stone to use for creating pathways around your property or through your garden.
Many of our customers have used the Quantock Grey for their driveways as they are safe to use in such an environment and will not cause any damage to tires. Since the chippings are 20mm they are an appropriate size for driveways, anything smaller would have caused an issue.
If you want to create a pathway around your home that looks elegant yet will not put a huge dent in your wallet, then the Quantock Grey is the one you should for you. When compared to Block Paving or Decorative Chippings the Quantock is much more affordable without compromising on the quality and aesthetics. As a bonus, these chippings help with better drainage and therefore reduce risks of floods.
The Quantock Grey is also an excellent choice if you want an easy way to decorate your home without too much hassle. These chippings do not require any serious maintenance, the only thing you need to ensure is to top them to create the appropriate amount of depth to make it safe to walk across.
Quantock Grey Chippings 20mm for Gardens
The Quantock Grey is the perfect choice if you want to create an effective yet subtle garden feature that will add to your surroundings without being too overbearing.
You can also consider using these chippings to create a border around the garden that will add subtle colouring to your garden while still maintaining the aura of simplicity and minimalism.
Please keep in mind that the Quantock Grey Chippings are not fish-friendly and therefore, if you choose to use them to create a pond, it would need to be devoid of fish.
However, they are safe to use with plants and flowers which enables you to create feature areas and mini rock gardens should you wish to - they will add more texture and colouring than your traditional flower garden.

How to Lay Quantock Grey Chippings in Your Garden
When considering serious landscaping projects, our first advice is to always hire a seasoned professional so nothing goes wrong. But in saying that, laying out these chippings throughout your garden is not a complicated process and can be completed by anyone with a previous DIY experience. To start you on your way, we have created a little guide to help.
Firstly you need to make sure that you have a stable base before laying out your chippings for a driveway. Limestone Type 1, also referred to as MOT Type 1, which is a graded, 40mm Limestone, is what is most commonly used to even out driveway surfaces.
Before you start installing anything, make sure that you have accurately measured the area that you will fill with your chippings. Once you have done so, you can use our Quantity Calculator which will work out the amount of sub-base and chippings you will need for your chosen area. We recommend that you have a base of 50mm
Stone Zone also stocks Grid Stabilisers that have been created specifically for large areas that will get a heavy foot or vehicle traffic. These are especially useful for situations like long drives or if you live on a private road.
As a general rule, we always suggest that you also lay a layer of Weed Fabric in your garden to keep all the unwanted weeds away. We supply them in a variety of sizes so you have a great range of options for your garden.
When creating borders within your garden, you can lay the Quantock Grey right on the existing surface, be it in Artificial Grass, Turf or Weed Fabric.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
