Our popular mixture of Softwood and Hardwood Chips is great for a variety of landscaping purposes that include pathways, garden borders, chicken runs and horse menages.
If you're looking for a durable and long-lasting solution to a walkway around your house or garden, our Path Chips are the perfect solution. Consisting of a mixture of golden colours and tan brown wood chippings, this natural product works well with any garden or home colour scheme and blends in perfectly for a seamless look.
Path Chips for Your Garden Borders
Our Path Chips are very similar to our Woodland Mulches in the sense that they are natural wood chippings. The main difference between the two is that the Path Chips are more regimented in shape and size; consisting of square and rectangular pieces, whereas Woodland Mulches are sporadic in shape and size.
For this reason, you can use Path Chip on your garden borders with confidence that they will provide the same protection for your plants and soil that Woodland Mulch would, with the added bonus that Path Chips look a little bit nicer. This layer of natural wood will add protection against heavy rain, as well as hot sun and old winter months.
Path Chips for Pathways
Whether you want to create a simple walkway around your house or a large pathway in your front or back garden, our Path Chips are diverse enough for either use. Path Chips are very stable and durable so they can withstand frequent footfall without moving too much. These wood chips are also fairly weighted, which reduces the chance of them blowing away.
Our top tip for laying Path Chippings in your garden would be to dig the area to your desired depth (we usually recommend 50mm) and if needed, lay a thin base layer of Scalpings. This gives you a firm yet springy base to work with, as opposed to hard ground or soft, clay ground.
Using Weed Membrane is a must when it comes to laying a new pathway! No one wants to see unsightly weeds growing through your perfect pathway, so by laying one layer of our Weed Fabric will stand you in good stead for a clean and professional-looking path.
The Story of Our Eco-Friendly Path Chip
Many people wonder if our Path Chip has been chipped from virgin wood. We can confirm that our Path Chips are made purely from trees that have already been cut down in large projects by tree surgeons.
The 'waste' trees that tree surgeons have cut down from gardens or other public places, are taken to a site to be chipped using a wood chipper and then mulched down and taken to our Stone Zone warehouse.
By undergoing this process, it ensures that trees aren't being cut down to then be used purely to make Wood Chip, it also gives a purpose to trees that have been required to be cut down for various reasons.
Sourcing these Wood Chips directly from where they are chipped in Dorset, also means the carbon footprint of our Chips is minimal, due to the small amount of transportation involved.
These reasons are what make our Wood Path Chip part of our growing, sustainable range.
