Grey Porcelain Cobble Setts
With Porcelain Paving becoming increasingly popular in modern gardens across the UK, it's no surprise that the demand for Porcelain Cobble setts has risen.
Designed to perfectly compliment our ever-expanding and hugely popular Porcelain Paving range; these new Cobble Setts look stunning placed around your garden patio as a decorative border, as well as paired with Artificial Grass!
Our Grey Porcelain Cobble Setts are our best-selling colour; they are a light grey paving containing mid-grey speckles throughout the paving stone. This is popular for use around grey or white garden patios and also look great against turf.
Grey Porcelain Cobble Setts as a Garden Border
One very popular use of our Porcelain Cobble Setts is to border other hard or soft landscaping features within customer's front or back gardens. These versatile Cobble Setts make a great finishing touch to any landscape and look particularly impressive in modern gardens with different garden features.
Many customers opt for garden paving to create a garden patio that they can enjoy for a whole host of reasons; al fresco dining, evening entertaining and day time relaxing. To add the finishing touch to your modern garden patio, consider bordering it off with our Porcelain Cobble Setts in a layout that best suits your style.
Other landscaping features that benefit from having a neat border and a pop of subtle colour is Artificial Grass or Turfed areas. Especially when you have multiple hard and soft landscaping areas, it can really enhance the look of each feature when you border them with matching Cobble Setts.
Grey Porcelain Cobble Setts as a Garden Patio
If your garden is lacking in space, or would benefit from having a small, paved area within it, why not use these Grey Porcelain Cobble Setts as part of a paving area? Due to the small size of these paving setts, you can get creative and make some really uniquely shaped paved areas, as well as creating curves for a completely different look.
You could also use these Paving Setts to create a pathway; customers have used these Cobble Setts to create a neat and tidy pathway leading up to their front door, which then goes along the side of their house, and borders their main patio area, tying it all in really well.
Although these Cobble Setts look great in your front garden, they are not suitable for use as a driveway, due to the depth being at only 20mm; if you're looking to use paving as a driveway, take a look at our Block Paving, which measures 50mm deep.

How to Lay Cobble Setts
When it comes to laying our Porcelain Cobble Setts, it's a job that we would recommend being carried out by a Landscaping or Building professional, as they have most likely worked with the various materials involved. That being said, if you're an experienced DIYer who is handy in the garden, this might be a task you can manage yourself!
Being one of the largest Builders Merchants in the South of the UK, we have most of the equipment you'll need to install our Porcelain Paving Cobble Setts. Some other equipment may need to be hired, such as a Wacker Plate.
Firstly, you'll need to measure the area in which you'd like to install your Cobble Setts. Whether you're laying it in a straight line as a border, or creating an entire garden patio, measuring it means you can accurately calculate how many Cobble Sett pieces you'll need. Once you've purchased your paving stones, mark out the desired area with string or spray paint.
The area will need digging up to a depth of at least 200mm. Take care in removing any debris or vegetation so you have a nice, clean surface to work with. If you have a Spirit Level, this would be a good time to ensure the surface is more or less level.
Once your area has been dug out and more or less level, we would recommend adding a 100mm layer of MOT Type 1. Start by laying 50mm, then using your compacting plate to compact the material down. After this, you can proceed to lay another 50mm of MOT aggregates, and repeat the same process.
Now your sub-base has been laid, you can start to make your mortar mix. This can easily be made by mixing three parts of Sand to one part of Cement and one part of water. This mixture needs to resemble a workable slurry that you can lay your Cobble Setts on.
Spread the mortar mixture thickly across your MOT sub-base, ensuring there is a slight angle to the mortar mix bed, so the paving stones can be laid at an angle that will ensure water can run down it.
You're now ready to start laying your Cobble Setts. Use a Rubber Mallet to gently tap these into the desired place, leaving around an 8mm - 15mm gap between the stones.
When it comes to jointing the Cobble Setts, we have many different options that are available. We have the globally-recognised brand, Azpects Easy Joint that can be used, as well as their new Easy Joint Select range. We also sell VillaFix Porcelain Grout which is a new and affordable jointing option.
Otherwise, you can always make extra mortar mix and use this as a cost-effective option to join your Cobble Setts together. The only negative to this is that it will be the one standard colour, whereas the above grouting options come in a range of colours to choose from.
