10mm Golden Gravel
10mm Golden Gravel is a very popular option within our vast decorative Garden Stones range. This is for many different reasons; this dynamic, low-cost garden gravel can be used on your driveway, as a path, to decorate your front garden, or to create an attractive border!
Consisting of golds, browns, greys and whites, this colourful decorative shingle effortlessly enhances homes and gardens; whether you have a traditional brick house or a modern grey or white house.
What really makes Golden Gravel stand out, is the seashells that can be found within the 10mm garden stones; this is due to the stone being quarried at the beach.
10mm Golden Gravel Features
- Suitable for pathways and driveways
- Fish-friendly and suitable for ponds
- Warm, bright array of colours
- Locally-sourced from Southern beaches
10mm Golden Gravel for Pathways
A popular use of 10mm Golden Gravel is to create a pathway around your house or through your garden.
Some people have also used 10mm Golden Gravel on their driveways. While 10mm Golden Gravel is safe to use on a driveway, we would recommend using a slightly larger stone alternative, such as 14mm Shingle or 20mm Golden Gravel.
Using Golden Gravel as a pathway is a very affordable option as opposed to Block Paving or Decorative Chippings. It also aids drainage better than alternative methods like paving, so you run less risk of standing water or floods.
As well as Golden Gravel looking really nice at the front or back of your house due to the array of colours, it's also very low maintenance as a pathway. The only upkeep required is occasionally topping it up to ensure there is sufficient depth for you to walk across.
10mm Golden Gravel for Garden Features
Golden Gravel is a great addition to your garden if you're looking to create a stand-out feature.
Why not add a splash of colour to your garden by placing a foot of Golden Gravel around the edges to create a sophisticated looking border?
Golden Gravel is safe to use alongside your plants, and what many people have done in the past is scatter Golden Gravel over their plants to create a vibrant flower border.
Another benefit of using Golden Gravel on your plant border is that it helps retain moisture for plants in the Summer and will also keep them warmer in the Winter too!

How to Lay Golden Gravel in Your Garden
When it comes to any form of Landscaping, we always recommend that you hire a Landscaping Professional. However, when it comes to installing Golden Gravel in your garden, it is a fairly simple task that can be completed by the experienced DIYer! Read our guide below for some tips.
If you're using Golden Gravel to create a driveway you will need to lay a stable sub-base; for this, we recommend using Limestone Type 1, also referred to as MOT Type 1, which is a graded, 40mm Limestone.
Always measure the area that you'd like to fill with Golden Gravel, you can then use our Quantity Calculator to work out how much base layer and Golden Shingle you'll need. We would suggest having a base of 50mm.
We supply Grid Stabilisers, which are designed for large areas that will have heavy traffic driving over it fairly often. These are particularly good for long drives or private roads.
As a rule of thumb, we would always recommend installing a layer of Weed Fabric to ensure pesky weeds don't start coming through the fabric; these come in multiple sizes for you to choose from.
For garden borders, you may be able to lay the Golden Gravel directly onto the existing surface, including Artificial Grass, Turf Grass and Weed Fabric.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
